It is funny to have to ask anyone what is a ___ when they are about to let you taste something however, that is often the case when I eat at Tacobell. I went to #tastethehype and they introduced us to their latest product, the Chalupa. Now, if you are like me you ask, “what is a Chalupa”? I found this definition: a fried corn tortilla sometimes shaped like a boat and usually filled with a savory mixture (as of meat, vegetables, or cheese).
Since that description may still not give a clear idea, do you remember the Gordita Supreme? The Chalupa the same “shell” only they deep fry it. The taste however is definitely not the same.
The Chalupa Supreme features a deep-fried crispy and chewy flatbread filled with seasoned beef, sour cream, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and a three-cheese blend. The result: a delightful mixture of textures and flavors that is distinctly Taco Bell. Transforming the everyday taco into an experience you won’t find anywhere else.
Personal opinion: it’s tasty but messy! It makes me think cheeseburger but not enough cheese. I think it’s better eaten with a knife and fork to minimize the mess but it is still delicious. My choice would still be the previous offering of TacoBell, the Gordita Supreme.
As always though, the proof is in the tasting. It is better to #tastethehype for yourself today as Taco Bell’s Chalupa Supreme is available for a limited time only. Let me know what you thought of the Chalupa.
