After she barely survived an attack, her family decides it is best to go back to the old ways. After she healed, a Lore-wide competition is set up for her hand. She prays that the demon, Caspian, will enter and win her hand. Her oldest friend, he has already told her that he knows she is not his mate and he is already running out of time. He knew the Prince of Shadows is coming for him.
His may only have been there to fulfill his mission but he got a bonus. Fate brings him face to face with his bride. To win her, he’d need every bit of skill and cunning and more.
I found Cas wimpy for a demon. I know he wasn’t the focus of the story but the author has many other characters in this book who are more interesting such as Salem and Morganna.
The book is an R18. As with most of the books coming out nowadays, scenes are way too explicit.
Rating: 3 3/4. There are some scenes I love and some scenes that make me go blah. The development and display of Trehan’s skill was swoon worthy. The appearance of Nix was too short – I really hope her story gets written, even if not as a romance lead.
