I enjoy eating Japanese food. I also love buffets. If you are like me, then you will want to check out Katsu Sora, where breaded pork chop is definitely special.
Open since 2013, Katsu Sora is definitely not a new restaurant. They have branches in Trinoma, Eastwood, Promenade, SM BF and Tagaytay. I can’t speak for the other branches but I’ve been to the branch at the Promenade, Greenhills more than once and not been disappointed yet.
Katsu Sora is focused on breaded pork; specifically the four kinds of pork that Katsu Sora deems worthy of serving. The top of the line is the Iberico Pork. Next is the Kurobuta pork. Then there is Shimofuri pork and lastly Sakura Pork. The descriptions are in the image to the right.
If you still can’t decide which kind of pork to order (anyone like me to whom they all sound good to), they have a lunch special called Otameshi set which is available from 11 am to 5 pm. The set gives you all four kinds of pork. After I got to enjoy this dish, I would definitely choose the Iberico pork over the others.
Unlike most Japanese restaurants, the menu isn’t that extensive. There are a couple of other items such as prawns but really, not a lot. Also, everything comes in sets – not a la cart. What this means is that you can’t order a side of tempura, if that is what you are used to (like me) which is a sad point for me.
On the other hand, since everything is a set, you get unlimited access to the salad bar for unlimited refills of your soup, salad and rice. My friends love the potato salad. I love the fresh fruit. An absolute joy is the rice and all the add-on flavours available for customers to mix in; just don’t forget to make sure that it’s open before you start shaking the dispenser (yes, I didn’t notice the frst time)!
On a 5 point scale, I would rate this restaurant a 4. I like the cleanliness, the food tastes nice, appreciate the unlimited salad bar and the price is fair.
