I found a pair of training chopsticks when we were walking the mall last Sunday! The packaging has instructions in both English and Japanese so at least I don’t have to puzzle over the item though the images provided seem pretty clear. It’s for a kid’s hand though so my son will be the one who’ll really get to use it. I think I’ll have to just practice with the regular ones.
Whenever I go to a Japanese or Chinese restaurant, I try to eat with chopsticks. I’ve gotten better at it but usually, by the time the meal is ending, I’d have switched to a spoon and fork – which is thankfully normal here and readily available.
However, I still want to learn how to use chopsticks properly. It would be great to get through an entire meal without my hand cramping or the chopsticks twisting, making it obvious a novice is using them. I found a bunch of youtube videos (such as this one fro artstudioashenka and this one from yinandyangliving) that show how it should be done. It’s the actual usage that I need to perfect and much practice is needed.
